When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
In 1986, a friend invited me to join her at the Special Olympic swimming program in Terrace, British Columbia.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
I have competed at the National Games in:
St. Albert, Alberta - 2012 - snowshoeing
Corner Brook, Newfoundland - 2016 - snowshoeing
Antigonish, Nova Scotia - 2018 - swimming
What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I earned a Gold medal for shot put and a Gold medal for the 50m race. I feel proud of myself for winning two Gold medals.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
I am proud to belong to Special Olympics - I have meet so many nice people and made so many friends.
What is your goal for these National Games?
To do my best.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Being with my friends and meeting new people.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I like having fun and doing my best.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
I have met so many nice people in the 40 years that I have been involved with Special Olympics. I have done things that I would have never done otherwise, and I have made so many friends.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I like trying new things and I like spending time with my family and friends.
