When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I first got involved with Special Olympics in 2021 when my boss, who I also played soccer with, invited me to help coach a Special Olympics soccer team. I decided to give it a try, and I was immediately hooked. Being part of the program has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s something I’ve been passionate about ever since.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?

Yes, this will be my first time participating in the Special Olympics Canada Games, and I’m really excited for the opportunity.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?

Being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 means representing my province, supporting and guiding the athletes, and being part of a team that celebrates inclusion and determination. It’s an opportunity to make a positive impact and create memories that will last a lifetime.

What is/are your goal(s) for National Games?

My goal for the National Games is to help create a positive, inclusive experience where athletes feel supported, confident, and proud of their efforts.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

My favorite Special Olympics experience was supporting and cheering on other athletes during a soccer tournament, even when our own team wasn’t playing or winning. Seeing our team come together to encourage others and celebrate their achievements showed me the true power of teamwork, sportsmanship, and community.

What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (Or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)

Competing at the National Games means a great deal to my athletes, it’s a reward for their hard work and dedication. It provides an opportunity to challenge themselves, build confidence, represent their province, and connect with athletes from across the country.

What developments are you excited to see in your Team BC sport team leading up to National Games?

I’m excited to see the continued growth in confidence, teamwork, and skill development within our team. Leading up to the National Games, I’m looking forward to watching the athletes push themselves, support one another, and take pride in how far they’ve come together.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

Special Olympics is a welcoming and rewarding community where you can make a real impact, build meaningful connections, and be part of a program that celebrates inclusion and personal growth.
