When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
In 2024, I joined the Special Olympics swimming program after graduating from CAN Swim. Then, I joined other SOBC sports like floor hockey, track and field, softball, and basketball.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
Yes, this will be my first Canada Games.
What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I was happy with my results at the 2025 SOBC Summer Games. It really opened my eyes to the opportunity SOBC provides to athletes for competitions and friendships. I would like improve my future performance by continuing to improve my techniques. I also want to build more friendships with other fellow athletes in my region.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
It means being part of a community that respects and welcomes everyone, no matter what. We can be kind and help everyone reach their goals, small steps at the time.
What is your goal for these National Games?
I want to grow as an athlete and meet other fellow SO athletes from other provinces. Hopefully, I will do well enough to qualify for the World Games.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
My favourite experiences have been the opening and closing ceremonies for the Summer Games.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I like how free it feels to be in the water.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Try it! Everyone will welcome you like family.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I enjoy occasionally playing video games with my friends, and I enjoy learning about history.
