When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I first joined Special Olympics when I was in high school around 10 years ago because one of my friends was also involved in a couple of sports.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
Yes, this is my first national competition with Special Olympics. I have only ever been to Provincials one other time in 2017.
What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?
I earned 3 Gold and 2 Bronze medals.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
I am excited to have this opportunity, but at the same time, I am slightly intimidated since it such a step up.
What is your goal for these National Games?
My goal for the Nationals is to refine my routines and feel more accomplished.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Special Olympics BC Summer Games 2025 in Prince George was an experience. Despite it being kind of overwhelming, it was also exciting at the same time, since I got to meet everyone from all over the province.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
It’s a very challenging sport and I like to challenged. I also enjoy it because it has music in it, and I like to listen to music.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Special Olympics is a good way to help make friends while staying active at the same time.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I am currently doing two sports for Special Olympics. They are swimming and rhythmic gymnastics. I used to do 5-pin bowling, but unfortunately my schedule got too busy for it. I also volunteer at the Minoru Senior Centre in Richmond. I make the sandwiches and serve food at the cafeteria. I am also learning to do improv.
