When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I was at a meeting that was talking about different options for adults with disabilities. There was a presenter for Special Olympics. I joined Special Olympics in 2008 as a teen.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

Yes. My first.

What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I came first in my weight category. I got my first gold medal. I was very proud of myself. My goal for the Games was to do well and try hard. I did both and had fun too.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?

I feel honoured to be part of a team representing B.C. I feel like it's a chance that very few get. I'm fortunate to be part of it.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To do well and try to get on the podium. If not, that's okay too. I will cheer loudly for those who make it on the podium.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

I was at Provincials in 2013. During the opening ceremony, I got overwhelmed. I stepped outside with two coaches and an athlete and they all helped me feel better. We laughed so much that I was crying.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

Trying hard and lifting new weights. And I like being surprised with the amount I lifted, since I don't like to know how much I'm attempting to lift beforehand.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

It's really fun. You get to make a lot of new friends and meet new people.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I was born in Romania. I came to Canada 30 years ago. My coach is awesome and I'm excited to compete.
