When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I first started volunteering with SOBC in 2013 to gain service hours for high school graduation requirements.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
Yes, this will be my first Special Olympics Canada Games!
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
I am so incredibly thankful to be part of the national coaching team for SOBC. It is a privilege to work alongside my co-coaches and athletes in the hopes of a chance to move on to the World Games and represent BC!
What is/are your goal(s) for National Games?
My main goal is to grow stronger as a coach and as a team, but for my athletes, I hope that they are able to play their best and move on to the World Games!
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
My favourite Special Olympics experience was watching my team win Gold at the Provincial Games! Nothing beats the smiles on a winning team!
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (Or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)
I believe our team is excited to show off how hard they have been working in practice at a national level! Every week, they come to practice and give their all, and it shows in their game play!
What developments are you excited to see in your Team BC sport team leading up to National Games?
I’m excited to see how our team continues to grow in their teamwork during competition! Basketball is a team sport, and you can play so much better when you work together to achieve a win!
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Do it. If you have a sport that you love, or are just looking to get back to the community as a whole, Special Olympics is one of the best organizations that I have been a part of. I have been honoured to spend the last decade giving my heart and time to it!
