When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

My friend Alex from high school asked me to come to skating with her. So I started skating at 15 years old. Then 2 years later I started doing rhythmic gymnastics and and 4 years ago I started in the golf program.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

No, I have qualified in skating and attended the National winter games in Halifax and also qualified for the summer games in rhythmic gymnastics in Vancouver where I won my first gold medal at the national level.

What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I was happy, I won 3 silver and 2 gold medals. But I will make sure my hair is in a bun at Nationals because I got my rope stuck in my ponytail.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?

It means a lot to me, it gives me confidence, courage, responsibility. I get to meet new friends and travel with them without parents.

What is your goal for these National Games?

To do my very best, have fun and cheer on all my teammates.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

Travelling to Kelowna with my skating friends to my first regional competition and winning my first gold medal in skating.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I love dance and music, so I like learning my routines and skills and doing them to music.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

It is fun and you get to meet new friends and do all kinds of different sports.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I started dancing when I was 5 years old and tried rhythmic gymnastics at 9 years old, but was to young to compete, so I quit and returned at the age of 16. I am a kind and friendly person who always cheers on her teammates. I am hard worker and busy with both work and Special Olympics. I like my hostess job at White Spot, where I have worked for 7 years greeting and seating people, cleaning and setting tables, and getting tips. I always practice my rhythmic gymnastics skills and watch my routines at home. I volunteer at most of the fundraising events with Special OIympics, and my favourite is selling donuts. Also, I love spending time with family and friends. I really love being an aunty for the first time and playing with my nephew.
