When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
When I became an adult after high school, my mom found out about Special Olympics. Some of my friends are involved as well.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
Yes, these will be my first National Games.
What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?
We didn’t place anything, but I tried my best and had fun.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
It means a lot to me to know I’m beating the odds and proving people wrong. When I was a baby, no one thought I would ever become an athlete. But because of Special Olympics, I’m able to participate and compete. I don’t think it would be possible if not for Special Olympics.
What is your goal for these National Games?
To try my best and have fun.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
My favourite experience was competing at Regionals for the first time.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I feel that I’m good at it and it’s a fun sport to play and compete in.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
It’s great to play sports. You can meet new friends and participate to the best of your ability.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I was born with a rare bone disease, and Special Olympics is a place where I can play sports and compete to the best of my ability. Without Special Olympics, it would not be possible for me to play sports. I’m a big sports fan. I love hockey and baseball. And I’m an avid reader.
