When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I was asked to coach the softball team, as I have coached softball for many years.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
Yes, this will be my first National Games.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
I’m very excited for the athletes, as many of them say that this is a lifelong dream.
What is/are your goal(s) for National Games?
To go compete with sportsmanship and have fun!
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
I really enjoyed watching the team do well and show great positivity and sportsmanship at Regionals and Provincials! The athletes have worked so hard at our practices and really seem to be having fun!
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (Or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)
A lot of the athletes have expressed that this is a lifelong goal to get to and compete at the National Games.
What developments are you excited to see in your Team BC sport team leading up to National Games?
I’m looking forward to being with the athletes, as they are so excited and proud that they are going to Nationals.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
It’s extremely rewarding to help the athletes. They’re so much fun to coach.
