When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
As a retired teacher in Campbell River four years ago, I was looking for an opportunity to be involved in the community. Upon learning about Special Olympics, it seemed like the perfect fit. Four years in, and it’s still a perfect fit.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
Yes, this will be my first SO Canada Games.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
It is an amazing opportunity to support our BC athletes as they pursue their dreams through these life-changing experiences.
What is/are your goal(s) for National Games?
To help provide the best opportunity for our athletes to compete, excel, and fully enjoy these games.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Seeing the joy in the faces of our athletes as they work towards and achieve their dreams.
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (Or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)
Seeing and hearing the athletes' reactions when they found out that they were selected for the National Games shows how proud they are of their accomplishments. It means everything to them.
What developments are you excited to see in your Team BC sport team leading up to National Games?
I am excited to see the athletes working towards and beyond their personal best performances.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Special Olympics is a thoroughly rewarding and life-changing experience. Once involved, you are hooked.
