When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
Around 2005, I went skiing for the first time and enjoyed it. So I joined the SOBC Delta ski program and later also started bowling, then added soccer and softball. I may add track & field next year.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
My first National Games were the 2010 Games in London, Ontario where I won two gold medals in five-pin bowling. I then won 3 bronze medals for skiing in Jasper, Alberta in 2012; three silver medals in skiing in Corner Brook, Newfoundland in 2016; 3 gold medals in skiing in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 2020, and then 2 gold and a silver in skiing in Calgary in 2024.
What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?
Gold medal for my basketball team. It felt great—well, except that I broke my foot in the last few minutes of the gold medal game. That didn’t feel great at all, but the gold medal sure did!
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
I am excited to represent my province as part of a team that works hard and gets along so well together.
What is your goal for these National Games?
Prepare as best as I can to play as well as I can to help my team as much as I can.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Representing Canada at the 2025 World Winter Games in alpine skiing in Italy, and being lucky enough to win 3 gold medals there.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
Working hard and being together as a team.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Give it a try—you’ll be amazed at how good it all is!
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I have a part-time job and I now live on my own too. I’m looking forward to not having to cook and clean for a few days while I’m at the Games!
