When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
My Uncle has been in Special Olympics since before I was born and my mom has been coaching for many years. It was a natural progression to me joining as a coach too!
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?
This will be my first!
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
It means being part of a team showing what our athletes are capable of!
What is/are your goal(s) for National Games?
Making sure everyone is feeling confident and secure in knowing they have done their best!
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Being at provincial games where my uncle was an athlete and my sister, mom and myself were all there as coaches. A whole McCooey contigent!
What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (Or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general).
Showing off their skills and abilities!
What developments are you excited to see in your Team BC sport team leading up to National Games?
Honing their skills and becoming more confident and knowing they have done their best!
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
Join! Its always so fun and rewarding being involved.
