When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I first started playing basketball in 2022. Then in the spring of 2023, I joined the athletics team when I happened to see them practicing near my home.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

Yes! These will be my first National Games.

What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?

I won 3 Gold medals (long jump, shot put, and mini javelin) and 1 Silver medal in the 200m. I was very proud of myself. It was a cold day in Prince George so I didn't run or jump my best. Hopefully I can do better at the Canada Games.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?

I am very happy and proud to have been chosen to be part of Team BC. It came as a surprise, but I am excited to participate in the Canada Games.

What is your goal for these National Games?

I want to do the best that I can, and I hope I win some medals again. I would love to be chosen for Team Canada and go to the World Games in 2027. Most of all though, I want to have fun.

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

I liked taking part in the BC Summer Games in Prince George because I won medals. I had fun at the dance too.

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

I like that I can train for it all year long. I like that I can see tell when I am getting faster or stronger.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

Do it! It is a lot of fun. The coaches and volunteers are great people. You will meet lots of new people and stay active and fit at the same time.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I really like doing all sorts of sports with Special Olympics - basketball, softball, soccer, and track. I wish I could take part in more than one sport at the Canada Games.
