When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

I moved to Campbell River with Mom at age 13. She insisted I give swimming a go. Once I got comfortable putting my face in the water, I took right off!

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?

2018 - Track and Field
2020 - Snowshoeing
24 - Snowshoeing
26 - Track and Field

What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?

Three Golds and a 5th place personal best time.

What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?

Being part of Special Olympics Team BC means triumph. Victory. Standing tall despite adversity.

What is your goal for these National Games?

If I can get myself another best time or best throw, that would be nice!

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

It would have to be the National Games in 2020. My 30th birthday happened to fall during the Games and they actually celebrated it with me! I then proceeded to shatter all of my old times!

What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?

Lots of running in circles, and throwing things!

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

Just try one sport and try several actually until you find your niche.

Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?

I’m amazing. Joking, I am a 36-year-old veteran. I am a crazy cat lady and athlete who has been working at Thrifty Foods for almost 8 years. I serve on the committee for my local Special Olympics. I do a multitude of other sports, like softball, floor ball, swimming, snowshoeing, and 10-pin bowling. Outside of Special Olympics, I do jazzercise twice a week, and I enjoy reading, Starbucks lattes, being bossed around by my two cats, and playing games on my iPad.
