When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
Encouraged to join from friend in Special Olympics close to 15 years ago.
Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, what other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
I have been to 2020 winter games Thunder Bay, Ontario for 5 pin bowling.
What were your results in the 2025 Special Olympics BC Summer Games? How did you feel about your performance?
Prince George worked hard for a bronze medal in basketball. Despite being shorthanded our team gave a full effort.
What does being part of Special Olympics Team BC 2026 mean to you?
It is recognition for the hard work I have put in to become a better player and teammate.
What is your goal for these National Games?
It is enough to be recognized as a nationally ranked athlete, though I wouldn't throw away a medal if it crossed my path...lol.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Personally it was the March Madness basketball tournament...it proved that the combination of Kelowna and Prince George is competitive.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I like contact sports, though rarely have the chance. Plus I am glad that my defensive skills are appreciated and useful.
What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?
I would say that Special Olympics has whatever you need or want. Social accessibility for those who have problems with isolation, a goal or target for those struggling to find a path, or those who need to burn an over abundance of energy in a safe environment.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about
One of the things I tend to bring up is my regret that I started Special Olympics in my 30s instead of my teens when being part of Special Olympics could have changed my whole outlook on life. It is because of this I push the need to become more visible to those children or teens with disabilities who need something to be part of and do great things.
