Send a Joy of Sport High Five
Cheer on athletes and volunteers going to the 2027 Special Olympics BC Winter Games by writing a virtual message of encouragement!
I love Special Olympics because I am a part of a group that values me, and my friends and my coaches believe in me. Because of this, I succeed in my sports. I am a happier person and I feel like miracles can happen.
About the Gala
The Joy of Sport Gala presented by Wheaton Precious Metals is a moving and memorable celebration of the power of sport and the abilities of Special Olympics BC athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This elegant evening offers meaningful connections, inspiring sport stories, and a powerful demonstration of inclusion and respect for Special Olympics BC athletes.
Every athlete deserves the joy of sport
Too often, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities are excluded from sport and community. This isolation can have lasting impacts on their health, confidence, and sense of belonging.
Special Olympics BC is changing that.
Through the Joy of Sport Gala, we harness the power of sport to strengthen inclusion, break down barriers, and create life-changing opportunities for Special Olympics BC athletes across the province.
New name. Same powerful impact.
Formerly known as the Sports Celebrities Festival, this beloved event has raised more than $11.5 million over 27 years in support of Special Olympics BC athletes.
In the Joy of Sport Gala presented by Wheaton Precious Metals, we come together to celebrate the power of sport, the Special Olympics athletes who inspire us, the moments that move us, and the connections that change lives and strengthen communities.
