2026 Winner: Amanda Silveri
Heartfelt congratulations to Coquitlam coach Amanda Silveri, the 2026 winner of the Special Olympics BC Coach Ambition Award!
In just two and a half years with Special Olympics BC, Silveri has made a remarkable impact across multiple SOBC – Coquitlam programs. She serves as Head Coach of powerlifting and Assistant Coach for soccer, Athletic Club, snowshoeing, and functional testing. She brings energy, reliability, and thoughtful leadership to every role.
When SOBC – Coquitlam needed a powerlifting program, Silveri stepped up to build one from the ground up. She sourced a facility, worked closely with local leaders to assemble athletes, volunteers, and coaches, and prepared weekly training plans so every coach arrived ready to support athlete skill development. The program quickly became a success, with athletes making measurable gains and enjoying the experience so much that Coquitlam plans to expand the program in the 2026-27 season.
“Amanda consistently rises to every occasion,” her nominators say. “She quickly progressed from a new volunteer to confidently leading drills and practices, stepping in to cover head coach absences when needed.”
Silveri’s leadership extends well beyond one program. In soccer, she supports and leads drills, reinforces teamwork, and encourages confidence and inclusion. In Athletic Club and snowshoe, she adapts activities to meet athletes’ needs, keeps participants engaged, and brings fun and encouragement to each practice. She also supports functional testing sessions by helping with setup, recording results, recruiting volunteers, and providing exceptional encouragement to athletes.
Her nominators describe Silveri as a dependable coach who is deeply trusted by athletes and valued by fellow volunteers. She has grown into a mentor for new volunteers, sharing her knowledge and helping others build confidence. Through her own initiative, she has also strengthened SOBC – Coquitlam’s volunteer base by recruiting committed volunteers who have become consistent contributors across athletics, powerlifting, and soccer.
“Amanda builds strong, trusting relationships with athletes and mentors new volunteers, strengthening both athlete experience and coach development,” her nominators say. “Her initiative, reliability, and genuine care for athletes give us full confidence she will continue to grow into a key leader and make a lasting impact within Special Olympics.”
Special Olympics BC is proud to recognize Silveri with the 2026 Coach Ambition Award, and we celebrate and thank all our award nominees for their hard work and achievements.
