When did you start with Special Olympics and how did you
get involved?
I started in September 1986 at the start of Special Olympics in
Prince George. I went to the meeting advertised in the paper with
three other ladies. I’ve been Local Coordinator,
Secretary, Program Coordinator, coach, and general helper just
about anywhere.
What is your most memorable Special Olympics
experience?
I would say all the Provincial and National Games. They are always
thrilling. But also Seeing
athletes progress from where they start whether it is in their
behaviour, their sport skills, or social skills. It is so important
that they progress.
What would you like people to know about
you?
If they remember me they remember Special Olympics and what we do
for our athletes. My hobbies include reading, cross country skiing,
doing crafts, and walking.
I’ve been in this for so long because I truly believe
in Special Olympics.
What volunteer position(s) do you hold?
I’m the outgoing program coordinator so I will be
sticking around to help some of the newer executive members and
still hope to be helping with cross country skiing this upcoming
season!
