Special Olympics Snowshoeing offers athletes an excellent
cardiovascular workout and allows participation for athletes of
every ability level. Individual events offered in snowshoeing range
from the 100 metre to the 1500 metre races.
As in all Special Olympics sports, athletes are grouped in
competition divisions according to ability level, age, and
gender.
SNOWSHOEING FACTS

Special Olympics was first introduced as a Special Olympics
sport at the 1997 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Toronto,
Canada.

Today 3,163 Special Olympics athletes from 26 programs compete
in snowshoeing.
