The Athlete Representative Workshop (ARW) teaches athletes the
skills required to become an effective Athlete Representative on
the Local Committee.
The Athlete Representatives on each local committee helps to
gather input from Special Olympics BC's athlete- base,
to communicate ideas, concerns, recommendations, and questions from
athletes in the local to the local committee, and to communicate
information from the local committee back to athletes.
Athletes attend the ARW training with a Mentor Coach. The Mentor
Coach provides the Athlete Representative with ongoing, follow-up
support in:

Preparing for local meetings.

Staying informed before, during and after the meetings.

Setting up meetings with the Head Coach and athletes in each
sport.

Creating an appropriate means of communicating with athletes
from all programs in the local.
