For Special Olympics BC – Penticton coach Michelle Riches, volunteering with SOBC is not only an inspiring experience, it is a great opportunity to spend time with her sisters.

Riches and her sister Fae Hodgins coach 5-pin bowling and bocce, and their sister Jeri-Lee Hodgins is an athlete who participates in both sports.

The Head Coach of SOBC – Richmond’s athletics and Club Fit programs, Vanderwel is passionate about creating a positive, inclusive atmosphere for SOBC athletes. He says it’s a privilege to coach with Special Olympics and he’s thrilled to be part of such a phenomenal community.

Jones’s favourite part of being involved with Special Olympics is working with the athletes, and every week she looks forward to spending time with them at practices. Jones says she is joined by a great group of volunteers who are always ready to get in the water and help the athletes in any way they can.
