Darren Inouye honoured with Sport BC Presidents’ Award
Special Olympics BC Region 5 Coordinator and Special Olympics Team Canada 2017 mission staff member Darren Inouye is the deserving winner of the 2017 Sport BC Presidents’ Award for SOBC.
Presidents’ Awards are given to volunteers from Sport BC member and partner organizations who demonstrate the spirit of volunteerism, and whose dedication, energy, and commitment contribute to the growth of their sport or organization. Inouye received his award in a ceremony on March 8.
An SOBC volunteer of more than 13 years, Inouye works hard to provide Special Olympics athletes with life-changing opportunities. As Region 5 Coordinator, Inouye gives guidance and support to Locals in his Region and helps chart the course of SOBC sport program development, strategic plans, policies, and resources as a member of SOBC’s Leadership Council. He has also helped athletes develop their skills as a floor hockey and snowshoeing coach.
Inouye made an impact as a mission staff member for Team BC at the 2014 and 2016 Special Olympics Canada Games, and he is currently hard at work in Austria with Special Olympics Team Canada as mission staff at the 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Congratulations Darren, and thank you for all that you do!
