The 2009 Sports Celebrities Festival was held on Wednesday,
October 14, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The
evening kicked off with exciting interactive elements where guests
played games of table hockey and Nintendo Wii against their
favourite Canuck. The event featured an exclusive live and silent
auction filled with unique items, live entertainment, and of
course, a gourmet plated three-course meal.
The Sports Celebrities Festival is an inspirational evening
saluting the power of the human spirit. It is about people gaining
confidence, acceptance and recognition. Vancouver Canucks players,
alumni, and management share an evening with
Vancouver’s business elite.
The Sports Celebrities Festival benefits the Canucks for Kids Fund,
and Special Olympics BC. The Canucks for Kids Fund dedicates its
resources to assist charities who support children’s
health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey
and facilitate and encourage education in British Columbia. Special
Olympics BC provides on-going sport training for athletes with an
intellectual disability in 55 communities throughout the province,
increasing athletes’ self-esteem and allowing them to
celebrate personal achievement.
