SPECIAL OLYMPICS BC FOUNDATION

By ensuring Special Olympics BC's long-term financial stability, the Special Olympics BC Foundation ensures that lives of British Columbians with an intellectual disability will be enriched through sport for generations to come.  As an endowment fund administered by Special Olympics BC’s Board of Directors, the Foundation also provides opportunities for individuals, corporations, and foundations to make a lasting difference in their communities.

MARGE MCNARY MEMORIAL FUND

On May 31, 2003, Marge McNary, a long serving volunteer and supporter of Special Olympics BC , passed away.  To honour her life and memory, husband Bob McNary established the Marge McNary Memorial Fund.

Since then, family and friends of Marge and Bob have made generous donations to the Fund. In 2004, Bob organized a successful dinner/auction fundraiser, which he hopes to make an annual event. With this loving support, the Fund has reached close to $25,000 and continues to grow.

As an endowment fund, the monies deposited into the Marge McNary Memorial Fund will not be touched; it is the investment income made from these funds that will support Special Olympics BC.  Thus, the Marge McNary Memorial Fund will support the endeavors of Special Olympics BC athletes now and for years into the future.

HOWARD CARTER FUND

The late Howard Carter was a well-respected member of the automobile business community and a dedicated supporter of Special Olympics BC. Howard helped bring the BC Automobile Dealers Association on as a sponsor, and assisted Special Olympics BC with many fundraising initiatives.

The Howard Carter Fund is an endowment fund that was initiated by his wife Marnie Carter to honour Howard’s memory, and to provide support for Special Olympics BC now and into the organization’s future.
