The Athletic Achievement Award is presented annually to a male
or female athlete who has demonstrated outstanding athletic skill
both in practice and competition. This athlete works hard to
develop their abilities and to excel in their sport(s). In addition
to athletic ability, this athlete must act as a role model for
other Special Olympics athletes.
2009 ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECIPIENT -
BRIDGET COLVIN
This year's Athletic Achievement Award was awarded to Bridget
Colvin of Burnaby. An extremely active athlete, Bridget
participates in eleven sports, is an athlete speaker, and holds a
part-time job as well. She recently returned from the World Games
in Boise, Idaho with a gold, silver, and bronze in snowshoeing.
As a Special Olympics athlete for the last eleven years, Bridget
is eager to share her experiences with others. Whether it is
speaking in front of university students or helping athletes who
have questions about the different programs, she is happy to share
her wealth of knowledge with plenty of confidence and a big smile.
Congratulations on your success Bridget!
