PLEASE NOTE
The Special Olympics BC (SOBC) awards process has been
re-evaluated. Due to a lack of submissions over the past three
years, SOBC initiated a change to the submission process. We
included many of the recommendations from the locals across BC
following the November 2006 Leadership Council meeting.
The following process will be in place, effective immediately.
-
All registered individuals of Special Olympics BC have the
ability to nominate an individual for the President's Award, Howard
Carter Award, Spirit of Sport Award and/or Athletic Achievement
Award.
-
Note: All nominations must be endorsed by the local before they
are submitted to Provincial Office. In instances where the Local
Coordinator is nominated, the Regional Coordinator, and/or other
executive members can endorse the application.
-
Instead of two reference letters, Special Olympics BC will only
require two contact names (including name, phone number and email
address) to be written at the end of the nomination form, in the
space provided. These individuals will then be contacted by the
Awards selection committee for further information on the
short-listed candidates.
-
Photographs will not be required with the application
package. A photograph of
the winner for each respective award will be
required after the announcement (for both the SOC awards and for
newsletter announcements).
-
All awards submitted will be held over for one additional year,
if requested by the nominator.
If you have any questions, regarding this new process, please
contact the SOBC Provincial
Office.
