2017 SOBC Summer Games: Volunteers
We need your help!
With 1,600 coaches and athletes coming to Kamloops from around the province and the Yukon, the 2017 Special Olympics BC Summer Games will be SOBC’s largest Provincial Games to date, and we will be looking for over 1,000 volunteers to help make this the best sporting experience possible!
We will need:
- trained sport officials
- people to assist with the preparation of meals and to serve the meals to the participants
- volunteer bus drivers
- individuals with medical or first aid training
- security volunteers
- special events volunteers to help decorate, organize, and host at special events and award ceremonies
- and more!
If you can give four hours or come out for the whole event, there is a position for you!!
Our competition days will be Friday and Saturday, July 7 and 8, with athletes participating in 5- & 10-pin bowling, swimming, track and field, golf, rhythmic gymnastics, powerlifting, bocce, basketball, soccer, and softball at amazing venues around Kamloops. The Opening Ceremony will be on Thursday evening (July 6) and are open to the public. On Saturday evening (July 8) there will be a closed victory dance for athletes and coaches! With so many activities, there is something for all volunteer interests.
If you would like to register offline, please contact the fine folks at the Kamloops Sports Council and let them know you wish to volunteer for the 2017 SOBC Summer Games: firstname.lastname@example.org / 250-828-3822
